Who Buys Prints?
AN UPDATE ON THE MARKETPLACE FOR FINE ART PRINTS
Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 10am - 4pm
General Admission: $80; Meeting Place Registrants & Students: $40
Presented by Mary Virginia Swanson,
Advisor, M.V. Swanson & Associates, Tucson, AZ and New York
Today, challenges to the traditional artist/dealer relationship are impacted by changes in consumer interests and purchasing habits, and the rise of new sales venues for acquiring art. In addition to sales through galleries, purchases occur at art fairs, via online platforms, through third parties such as art consultants and interior designers, and directly from artists. The centuries-old art market is ripe for new models.
Join Mary Virginia Swanson with Peggy Sue Amison, Artistic Director, East Wing, Dubai; Darren Ching, Co-owner of Klompching Gallery, Brooklyn; Natasha Egan, Executive Director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago; Joan Morgenstern, Private Collector, Houston; Liana Schwaitzberg, Associate, MKG Art Management, Houston; and Lisa Volpe, Associate Curator of Photography, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, for this informative seminar.
The Professional Development Seminars will be held in downtown Houston at the Whitehall Houston Hotel, 1700 Smith Street, Houston, TX, 77002.
