Photo Editor & Deputy Editor in Chief
fotoMAGAZIN, Hamburg, Germany
Manfred Zollner has a degree in Mass Communications from Munich University, and began his career as a film critic, working for various German film magazines. In 1991, he began working for fotoMAGAZIN as Director of Photography, and has since devoted himself entirely to photography. From 2003 until 2006, he was Editor in Chief of the bi-monthly magazine Photo Technik International (now published as Photo International).
He returned to fotoMAGAZIN in 2006, and has held the position of Deputy Editor in Chief since 2007. He also became Editor in Chief of the annual fine art photography publication fotoMAGAZIN EDITION in 2012. In addition to his editorial work, Mr. Zollner is a regular contributor of essays to international photo book projects.
Mr. Zollner is interested in signature styles of work from any field of photography, so long as it shows the photographer's individual approach to a chosen subject. He will be selecting outstanding work to be published in fotoMAGAZIN's portfolios, as well as online portfolios on the magazine's website. He is also looking for work to be printed in the XXL-sized fotoMAGAZIN EDITION. This magazine makes a point of introducing new talent to its readers.
He will be happy to discuss the photographer's work, point out strengths and weaknesses, make suggestions on promoting projects, and give advice on the German photography market (publishing houses, magazines, galleries, museums etc).
