Cortona On The Move photography festival, Cortona, Italy
Since 2012, Arianna Rinaldo has been the artistic director of Cortona On The Move, an international photography festival in Tuscany, Italy. She is also curator of photography for PhEST, a new festival of art located in Monopoli, Italy, on the Mediterranean Sea, which is in its second edition this year. In 2014, she was appointed to the role of guest artistic director for DOCfield, a documentary photography festival in Barcelona.
Rinaldo’s wide-ranging relationship with photography began in 1998 in New York, as archive director at Magnum Photos. She moved back to Italy in 2001 to become photo editor for COLORS magazine, where she commissioned international photographers to produce documentary and research projects around the world. From 2004 to 2011, Rinaldo was based in Milan, working on exhibitions and book projects as a freelance curator and on publications as a photo consultant. She spent four years at D, the weekend supplement of Italy’s major daily newspaper La Repubblica, and for seven years was the director of OjodePez magazine, the bilingual documentary photography quarterly published by La Fábrica, Madrid.
Based in Barcelona since 2012, Rinaldo continues to develop photography projects at an international level, and collaborates with major publishing houses on special projects. She is a regular participant in portfolio reviews and on jury panels worldwide, and often leads workshops and lectures. She likes to explore photo festivals, and is intrigued by story-telling photography, wherever that may take her.
