Editor & Independent Curator
Mexico City, Mexico
Alejandro Malo has taken part in various cultural projects since 1993, both in editorial and technology positions. He has collaborated on many print and electronic publications, and has led workshops and conferences on creative writing, storytelling, photography, and technology. He participated in Training for Trainers, facilitated by the Center for Digital Storytelling and by World Press Photo, and served as the project liaison between Pedro Meyer’s Foundation and World Press Photo for the Storytelling & New Media Diploma and the World Press Photo Masterclass Latin America. Malo is former Director of ZoneZero, and was head of the team that developed the database system for Pedro Meyer’s Archive, which is comprised of close to 400,000 registered items. Malo offers consulting services to several photographic archives, and is developing a curatorial and educational platform to further bridge the gap between English and Spanish speaking communities that work on photography based projects. He will be a recurring pre-screener and juror at Photolucida’s Critical Mass 2017, and reviewer at the 2018 FotoFest Meeting Place.
Malo is interested in seeing photographic projects that challenge the boundaries, cross pollinate with technology, present current trends on photographic language’s use, and are well suited for online presentation. He is only interested in viewing commercial photography for their online presence ramifications.
