Independent Curator, Private Collector and Consultant
Dancing Bear, New York, NY, USA
W.M. Hunt has been looking at and talking about photography for a long time. He first reviewed portfolios at FotoFest in 1992.
Hunt is a champion of photography: a collector, curator and consultant who lives and works in New York. His collections have been exhibited in Europe and the US. He teaches at School of Visual Art, International Center for Photography, the Aperture Foundation, and elsewhere around the world.
In 2011, Thames & Hudson published Hunt’s book “The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the Unconscious”, a carefully organized collection of Hunt’s photographs. He organized the exhibition “Hunt’s Three Ring Circus: American Groups before 1950” at the International Center for Photography, New York, is a contributor to L’Oeil de la Photographie, and has written numerous essays for artist’s monographs. For more than two decades, he has organized and moderated the “Your Picture …” series for Photo Expo, and has judged competitions for World Press Photo, Photo District News, Center for Photography at Woodstock, Houston Center for Photography, Photographic Center Northwest, Daylight, FRESH, and others. He is currently on the board of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund, and has twice served as head judge.
He is pleased to offer critical or career advice. He likes work that is resolved, not in progress. Please no nudes; sex pictures, ok.
Be brave. He'll like that.
