Exhibitions and Programs Manager
Blue Star Contemporary, San Antonio, TX, USA
Jacqueline McGilvray is the Exhibitions and Programs Manager of Blue Star Contemporary, San Antonio’s longest running non-profit for contemporary art. In her role as Exhibitions and Programs Manager, McGilvray serves as the assistant curatorial staff, working directly with Blue Star’s Executive Director to research, curate, and design exhibitions. In addition to offering innovative exhibitions, Blue Star Contemporary facilitates a residency program for San Antonio artists at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, Germany, and provides art education programs to the community, including the MOSAIC after school program for high school youth.
Prior to joining Blue Star Contemporary, McGilvray worked for various arts organizations and institutions in exhibition coordination, collections archiving, and curatorial writing, taught undergraduate photography courses, and worked with refugees and at-risk youth. She holds an MFA in Photography and Integrated Media from Ohio University and a BFA in Photography from Texas State University.
McGilvray is looking for artists for possible exhibition opportunities. She is interested in reviewing work that participates in and responds to the dialogues of contemporary art, work that is conceptually based, and work that engages the medium and history of photography in new ways. She is also interested in work with a focus on social practice. She is not interested in commercial, fashion, visual communication/communication design photography, or street photography.
