Born in 1983 in Brno, Czech Republic, Roman Franc earned an M.A. in education in 2008 at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Brno, and an M.F.A. in photography in 2015 from the Institute of Creative Photography, Silesian University, Opava, where he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. From 2008 to 2011, Franc was the photographer for the office of former Czech president Václav Havel. He has taken part in group and solo exhibitions in the United States, Great Britain, and Slovakia, and was featured in the 2012 portfolio issue of Shots Magazine. His work is included in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, as well as in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad. In 2016, his book My Name Is Hungry Buffalo was hailed as among the most beautiful books in the Czech Republic. Franc is represented by Pictura Gallery in Bloomington, Indiana.
