Indu Antony is a visual artist based out of Bangalore and Kerala, India. Born and raised in a traditional Indian family, she overcame various social expectations and obstacles to follow her own path and pursue her art. This experience has led her to be drawn to working with individuals from the fringes of society. Her work is concerned with understanding feminist positions and issues, giving way to her performances and installations.
An exhibiting artist since 2010, Antony’s work has been presented in group shows and festivals in India, as well as Nepal, Germany, and Argentina. Recently, her series ManiFest was shown in Living Disobediently at Queer Asia 2017, University College London, and her solo exhibition Vincent Uncle was held at Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi, Kerala. She won the Toto Funds the Arts-Tasveer Photography Award in 2012 for her series The Broken Strings, which examined the notion of “home.”
